Spelunky Samples (Spelunky HD)

A list of the different synths I've found used in the soundtrack for Spelunky HD.

Keep in mind: Although I am listing the actual sources of all these sounds, most of the soundtrack uses these sounds sampled in a tracker.

This list is incomplete and kinda low priority. I'll get to it eventually...

YAMAHA DX7

The Yamaha DX7 is featured in Spelunky's soundtrack. It's probably used in many places, but I'm only listing the ones I'm sure of.

BASS 1 (ROM1A)

The BASS 1 preset from the DX7's ROM1A is the bassline used for a good majority of the soundtrack. Probably the soundtrack's most iconic sound.

E.PIANO 1 (ROM1A)

The lead in Mines Dark almost sounds identical to this preset, maybe with a few modifications.

YAMAHA TX81Z

Harsh Bass Thing

IDK what this preset is called but it sounds like the one used in Jungle A and Mines Dark.

Percussion: Tambourine

Used in Black Market.

Mellotron

If you're familiar with the Mellotron, it's pretty easy to recognize it when it's used in music.

strings 1

This is used in Mines A. Rather than the Mellotron's C sample, it seems to be the A sample pitched up.

Also appears in Mines Dark, Ice Caves B.

brass

Brass is used in The Dead are Restless! music, and also in the prototype version too.

YAMAHA PSS-140

The PSS-140 is part of Yamaha's PortaSound series. It generates sound using the ym2413 chip. It's distinct sound is most prominently used in shopkeepers' radio tunes.

Vibraphone (ym2413 preset)

Used in hard ending's music loop.

Drumkit

Used for most shop music.

YAMAHA RX7

Bass 2

This bass is used in The Black Market.

Drums

Clap is used in Mines Proto.

Ride bell is used in Deathmatch.

Tambourine is used in The Black Market.
